Why AmA
Being her first name Anna, it happens when writing it comes out as Ama...the two letters "nn" become as fused together like in an "m",
Coincidentally, in her native language, Italian, "ama" (pronounced /ˈɑː.mɑ/) is the second person of the imperative tense of the verb Amare, for this ama literally means: (please) love!
Love is the Higher Energy, the purest one, the intrinsic matter of our souls, the relentless thrust which pushes and shapes our lives while keeping us alive and kicking, even through the hardest challenge, the sweetest moment, the uncounscious breathing...
For this it became the main Aim of her Artistic Research
Love can be felt but is actually Invisible.
It is indeed possible to Perceive it as a form of Energy.
The whole matter is Energy in movement.
Even the most solid objects are built from Energy.
The Sun, the Light, our Body, a flower, a Sculpture...
We are all made, surrounded and constantly trespassed by Energy.
We ourselves are Energy, our expressions, gestures, emotions, desires and thoughts, everything is Energy...sculpting and mainly representing solid tridimensional artworks, let AmA interpret and pass this Energy coming from "Nowhere" to other People. Everybody can receive an impression from an image, from a figure, from a painting, from a sculpture with whom Energy they deeply resonate.
Artistic Process and mediums
Her favourite art medium is generally clay.
It could be water based or polymeric or papier-mâché or everything she can smoothly mix and model or carve but, wax-based clay and resin turned out to be the favorite ones.
With resin she can directly create finished artworks, and from clay she let diligently cast faithful bronze copies of her detailed wax models with the "lost-wax technique".
Along with the creation of figurative sculptures, her research addresses also in creating "sculptural-paintings" or "paintural-sculptures". Thus her main objective is to narrate emotions and what moves them, in a tridimensional perspective, the above exposed mediums, offer her the chance to impress and express those subtle and powerful energies in a more visible and tangible dimension.
In front of a shapeless bunch of mud she let a sort of Higher Intuition flow, and listens to what the emerging subject asks her. She never really knew in advance. It's just like the artwork gradually reveals itself and she feels in complete harmony. It’s a kind of magic like an inner voice guiding her.
She feels like the expression of Energy, intended as the Supreme One that makes us move in all of the multiple aspects and declinations of our human condition, freely manifests through her, such as she were a sort of medium as well.
When this happens it’s like "self-creation" and she can only let it go. Those moments are like quick eruptions of creativity.
For this her artwork is not intended to represent “something” in particular but it autonomously speaks to the soul of the connected person at a subliminal level.
Being not aware she is an Artist is probably the real challenge, because Art is today mainly perceived like a sort of conceptual industry and people are used to understand Art mainly with their brains than with their hearts...and she feels she is a “heartist”. In this Higher Sense, her Art Name is a humble exhortation to remember to fine tune with this Purest Energy.
Artist Statement
AmA loves creating sculptures, paintings and conceptual artworks.
By studying sign representation, signification and communication, Ama uses references and perceptions that are so integrated into the process of the composition of the work itself, haunting the resonating observer long after the exposure.
The meaning is deconstructed to the extent the possible interpretation becomes multifaceted.
By emphasising aesthetics, the dynamic between audience and author do not objectify the emotions received through senses but deal to deeply investigate the arousing perception of Energy subtending different interpretations.
The combination of shapes and colours, gestures and signs, expressions and movements, brings the audience through an intensely personal epiphany approaching nevertheless the contemporary debate as well as ancient interrogatives and meaningful echoes.
Her masterful creations lures the viewer round and round in circles.
Her works gives the opportunity to autonomously dive into the representation, depicting signs and ideas coming at the surface in alternating cycles of investigations and waves of emotions.
Artworks are then languages on a meta-level, inciting the viewer to deeply tune at an inner level of decoding. Abstract becomes matter, figures express movement and Energy manifests Itself overwhelming the observer now conversing with the subconscious right at the multi-layered way artworks are aesthetically created.
Her works' structure is subjective.
Be it poetic, passionate or epic, Energy is the core of the experience.
The ability of perceiving is pushed to the invisible grasping new sense and finding new ways to question reality. The communication, the receiving of information goes extrasensory at a glance. Symbols and meanings, references and signs coincide in a sophistical eruption of knowledge.
Her works radiates a sort of archaic fascination and frequently a disconcerting beauty emerges.
The inherent visual seductiveness, along with the unconsciousness of the communication, which autonomously manifests, further hits the receiver at manifold layers of meaning. The viewer is at first seduced and then transported into a world of unexpected equilibrium and contentment reformulating the contingence of the daily ambience. Everyday life receives now presence. The sense of Presence clarifies and enriches the existence to a higher level of understanding. The pleasure is not simply aesthetical but becomes experiential.
